Chapter.15 The guilty and her innocence

The next few days were quite normal until one night when Atticus had to go out and Jem found something perculiar about him since he always walked instead of taking the car but today he was. Suddenly while i was almost asleep, i heard some footsteps and next thing i knew i saw Jem's and Scout's face at the window and i knew something was wrong so i changed as quickly as my small body could take me. I had to crawl out of the window and i must tell you it wasn't a very good experience. Scout told me that Jem had the look arounds, a term that Cal said all boys would get at Jem's age. We walked past Mrs. Dubose's house and past many places until we finally found where he had parked the car but Atticus' office was empty. Jem then decided to go up the street as he thought that Atticus may have been visiting Mr. Underwood. As we reached near the place where Mr. Underwood's office were, we saw the Maycomb jail as well and Jem said that the jail doesn't have outside lights and we went around the corner and there was Atticus.

But he wasn't alone. The were these other bunch of people unfamiliar to me. Scout was getting a little fidgety and suddenly she broke off from us. Jem and I trailed behind her and she was already caught in a conversation. Atticus was starting to get nervous and he told Jem to take Scout and I home. Next thing i knew there was this burly man grabbing Jem by his collar but Scout swiftly kicked him right where he deserves it!

Abruptly, Scout said hello to someone she seemed to have noticed. Scout started trying to get that mans attention by saying that she went to school with his son, Walter was it? And she started mentioning his legal affairs and she even mentioned when that man had dropped by their house and left some hickory nuts. Everyone stood there, including me, staring at Scout and what idiocy she had done. But all of a sudden the man squatted down and held Scout by her soulders and told her that he'll tell Walter Scout said hi. Such perculiar behaviour. After that we all left back for home and I even helped carry Atticus' chair.

Hmm i wonder how's Boo doing... Haven't been at him for sometime now.
