Chapter.15 The guilty and her innocence

The next few days were quite normal until one night when Atticus had to go out and Jem found something perculiar about him since he always walked instead of taking the car but today he was. Suddenly while i was almost asleep, i heard some footsteps and next thing i knew i saw Jem's and Scout's face at the window and i knew something was wrong so i changed as quickly as my small body could take me. I had to crawl out of the window and i must tell you it wasn't a very good experience. Scout told me that Jem had the look arounds, a term that Cal said all boys would get at Jem's age. We walked past Mrs. Dubose's house and past many places until we finally found where he had parked the car but Atticus' office was empty. Jem then decided to go up the street as he thought that Atticus may have been visiting Mr. Underwood. As we reached near the place where Mr. Underwood's office were, we saw the Maycomb jail as well and Jem said that the jail doesn't have outside lights and we went around the corner and there was Atticus.

But he wasn't alone. The were these other bunch of people unfamiliar to me. Scout was getting a little fidgety and suddenly she broke off from us. Jem and I trailed behind her and she was already caught in a conversation. Atticus was starting to get nervous and he told Jem to take Scout and I home. Next thing i knew there was this burly man grabbing Jem by his collar but Scout swiftly kicked him right where he deserves it!

Abruptly, Scout said hello to someone she seemed to have noticed. Scout started trying to get that mans attention by saying that she went to school with his son, Walter was it? And she started mentioning his legal affairs and she even mentioned when that man had dropped by their house and left some hickory nuts. Everyone stood there, including me, staring at Scout and what idiocy she had done. But all of a sudden the man squatted down and held Scout by her soulders and told her that he'll tell Walter Scout said hi. Such perculiar behaviour. After that we all left back for home and I even helped carry Atticus' chair.

Hmm i wonder how's Boo doing... Haven't been at him for sometime now.

Chapter.14 The Runaway

Oh God you won't believe it! i just ran away from home and i had to hide underneath Scout's bed for the whole time and i had to wait such a long time for Jem and Scout to finish their dinner and come up. Not to mention the smell of food was actually killing me.

I asked if they had anything to eat and thank goodness, they had some milk and corn bread for me to munch on. Finally they asked me how i got here and i told them i got here by an involved route. I was actually bound in chains and left to die in the basement by my new father and i was secretly kept alive by raw field peas from a passing farmer that heard my cries. I had to work myself free from those bounds and finally, somehow, i pulled the chains from the wall with the manacles still hanging on my wrists. I had wondered a few miles out of Meridian where i had discovered an animal show and had been given a job to wash the camel and in return i got to travel around Mississippi until my keen senses told me that this was Abbott County, Alabama, Just across the river from Maycomb. No? Really, again? I actually took 13 dollars from my mothers purse and caught the nine o'clock train from Meridian and got off at Maycomb Junction and i walked around 10 miles till i found a cotton wagon that i could ride on and i had hid under the bed for over 2 hours.

Suddenly Atticus appeared behind me again just like the other time when he caught the three of us trying to put the note through Boo's window. Atticus told Scout to get something more than cold bread for me, thank goodness, and he said that he'll see what he could do. Immediately i thought that Atticus would tell Aunt Rachel i ran away and i even threatened that i would run off again but as we all know Atticus' kind soul, he said he'll be setting me off to sleep instead.

i remember taking bite after bite of food but i suddenly heard the "Aunt-Rachel-Cry" and i shook till i nearly gagged on the food i was still munching on. But Aunt Rachel gave in *phew!* and i could stay one night over at the Finches Place.

Hmm i think i'll go over to Scout's bed... Can't bear being with Jem now.. Maybe she's asleep by now but nevermind.

Chapter.6 Peek-a-BOO

Tonight was my last night here in Maycomb.. But i'll really dearly miss them. Anyway, we decided to take a stroll but as you know Jem and I actually planned to go and take a peek through the loose shutter in the Radley Place.

So we set off and we decided it would be better if we went under the high wire fence. Jem and Scout helped me up to try and see through the window but there was nothing but curtains. Oh i was so excited cos' i can't wait to see wait Boo actually looks like. I can't bear to wait for another summer to plot another plan to get Boo out. We went to Boo's front porch as our second plan and there it was at the window. I saw a towering shadow over at the window walking towards Jem where he was standing. I put my hands to my face as i was so scared as if i have had the worst nightmare of my step father locking me up in an underground cave with Boo. The next thing i knew i saw Jem running sprinting towards me and threw open the gate and dragged Scout and I along with him and Jem held up the wire for us. Scout and I continued running but I had a weird feeling Jem wasn't with us anymore. So the both of us went back to help Jem and he let loose his pants just to get out.

The three of us tried to rush back somewhere they would expect to see us come from and not from the Radley Place as it would probably arouse suspicion from everyone. But Jem couldn't help being noticed by everyone that he didn't have his pants on. Thank goodness Jem thought fast cos' i said he lost his pants in strip poker but Jem mentioned that they were playing with match sticks.

Last thing i remember was Aunt Rachel nagging at me. Thank goodness for Atticus.

Chapter 5. The secret, the plan, the discussion and the note.

For most of the summer, i spent my time with Jem in the treehouse plotting and planning on how we could get Boo to come out. Sometimes we would call on Scout just if we needed her.

Jem and I woke up early the next morning to discuss our latest plan, to give Boo a note. Jem would only have to put the note at the end of the fishing pole and sitck it through his window. Great idea don't you think? And if someone is coming i would ring a bell. Scout would be watching the back of the house. Don't you think its just full-proof? Anyway, Jem and I decided that we would politely ask him in black and white what he does in there and whether he would like to come out and we may even buy an ice-cream for him.

After that the three of us head out for the Radley Place and I passed a piece of paper to Jem for him to write the note for Boo. I didn't really know whether Jem successfully put the note by Boo's window but all i know is that Atticus towering figure appeared in front of me and I started panicking and i kept ramming that bell back and forth until Atticus told me to stop. Atticus then lectured us and told us to stop what we were doing and right after Atticus left, i could distinctly remember Jem screaming at Atticus that he wasn't so sure if he wanted to be a lawyer now. Well i guess thats it for our games oh well.

Oh and I can't believe it myself but i actually asked Scout to marry me cos' honestly, she is the only girl i would ever love but lets just keep this our little secret.

Chapter.4 The Game

Oh i just found Jem just a minute ago and he just told me the phrase phew! Finally Scout suggested a game for us to play. We would roll in the tyre and i wanted to go first since i just got here but Jem said i could get extra time if i let Scout go first so i agreed. Little did i know that Jem actually wanted to get back at Scout fer what he said about the Hot Steams an' he pushed Scout with all his strength. And guess what? Scout rolled right into the Radley Place.
Jem was screaming fo' her to get out of there but she forgot to take the tyre with her, probably because she was so dizzy and scared, but Jem still shouted at her and she retorted back to Jem and he fell silent. But i wondered why he couldn't go and retrieve it since he even touched the house before hadn't he? But anyway he did retrieve the tyre and Jem started acting all victorious as if he had won the battle saying that there was nothing to it...right, nothing to it eh?

Right after the whole woo haa, Cal called out fer' our summertime ritual.LEMONADE! I guess the lemon got to his head cos' he suggested a new game fer' us!We were going to role play Boo Radley's life. Scout started acting weird..she's probably just scared but she said that Boo might hunt us down while we were asleep so i suggested to Jem that we would just have to play by ourselves and Scout would hafta' watch us, but she agreed anyway..hmm wonder what changed her mind.

As the summer passed so did our little game. We kept trying to perfect our play by polishing it and we even added dialogue and a plot making this game worthy enough of being called a mini-play! We used parts of gossip we heard from other people and neighbourhood legends like Mrs Radley who was actually a beautiful lady until she married Mr Radley and lost all money, her teeth, hair and especially her right forefinger where Boo actually bit it off one night when he couldn't find cats and squirells to munch on.Its true!

We were having so much fun until Atticus caught us and Jem tried to avoid that we were actually playing. After he left, Jem still insisted on continuing to play the game.

Well i guess i'll go and ask Cal if she can get me another glass of her lemonade.

Chapter.4 Back for a second serving and maybe some Hot Steams too.

Guess what?! i came back all the way from Meridian to Maycomb today. On my own where Miss Rachel was there to meet me and we ate in the diner. Anyway i was glad to see both Jem and Scout again after so long but the two of them seemed different. They were lazy to play Tom, Sam and Dick with me. Oh well i guess they were tired but whats the summer going to be like if it were like this everyday?

But there was this horendous smell and i told Jem and Scout i smelt death. But NO! They didn't believe me.. i wonder why. I learnt it from an old lady who taught me how to tell if somebody is going to die. COOL HUH! After that Jem started talking to me about this thing... wha' was it..Oh Hot Steams thats right. They said that these people who couldn't go to heaven and wondered on lonesome streets an' if you walk through one you'll become just like one when you die.Bu..but to protect yourself you have to say something. Bu..but i totally didn't believe in anything they said.

Right maybe i should go off and look for Jem for that phrase to say again hmm. I'll try the front yard

Chapter.1 The Dare

Everytime Jem and Scout told me more and more about Boo Radley i'd want'a know more and more. Sometimes i even hug the light-pole at the corner of the street thinking WHO is Boo Radley and what he actually does locked up in there doing who knows what.. I wonder.

Hmm anyway i dared Jem that he wouldn't go past the Radley gate and guess what? On my third attempt he came through! I told Jem that all he needed to do was to touch the house-and by the way i could see Jem's face lightening up as if 1000tonnes just got off of him.
I must say i didn't think he could do it but he did and there goes my "The Grey Ghost". You should have seen the look on Jem's face after he touched the house! HAHA anyway that propably was worth my Grey Ghost.

Hmm I wonder what Boo actually looks like.
